I feel so fortunate to join the Milestones Psychology team. For as long as I can remember, I have enjoyed working with children of all ages. I am grateful to be able to work in a field and in a practice that involves supporting them in their everyday lives.
I am dedicated to providing evidence-based assessment and treatment, specifically cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), to children, adolescents, and their families. One of my goals is to establish a warm and nurturing environment in order to help the child feel confident about the therapeutic process. Developing a strong therapeutic relationship is an integral component of treatment. I recognize that a family member’s time is valuable, and feeling respected and heard is a priority.
My particular interests include working with children and adolescents with internalizing disorders, such as anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorders. I recognize that symptoms occur on a continuum and present differently in each child. I strive to understand a child’s full background, in addition to recent stressors, that may be impacting his or her functioning on a daily basis. I appropriately encourage children and adolescents to step outside of their comfort zones in order to see positive change and growth, while also validating the hard work that therapy entails.
In addition, I am passionate about collaborating with a team of individuals in order to best support each child. Developing a multidisciplinary approach is paramount to gain a comprehensive understanding and to facilitate a thorough and individualized treatment plan. With a specialty in school psychology, I believe in the importance of working with families, teachers and school-based mental health providers to assist with goal setting, to monitor progress, and to generalize outcomes. I am hopeful that building awareness and empowering families and professionals will lead to a fluid and careful understanding of the many facets of child and adolescent mental health.
